[09/02/04]

So we are coming back on air live very soon, but due to some technical issues at the station we may not be able to broadcast live this Friday (September 3rd), so we are looking to have our first live show on Friday September 10th at 8pm est.

[08/29/04]

So a few of us here at RFTB and WEXP Radio spent some of this past week ripping apart and gutting the station to renovate it and are in the process of getting new broadcasting equipment. I'm sure we will have pics of the new look and equipment up eventually. We are still hoping the station is up and running 100% by Friday September 3rd at 8pm est for our first show in almost 6 months...rest assured its going to have some of the most brutal music we have to offer as well as news of our upcoming plans. Just wanted to let all you know we're still alive and RFTB is spreading. And if you haven't done so yet, click the link above to register to vote, its time for change...

[07/15/04]

Jared here and it's been a long time since theres been an update, but rest assured we are preparing for new broadcasts of RFTB as well as what promises to be the most insane season at WEXP ever! We have been meeting with the rest of the station over the summer to plan for the return to live broadcasts. We have discussed at least 3 major live concert events for WEXP including the next WEXP-fest, another Nocturne, and hopefully a huge charity event for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In addition to this a few of us here at WEXP including myself, DJ Helix, Ben from Randomania, and the duce Hyslop are working on plans for some new equipment, a station remodel, a totally kickass new way to broadcast, and even have some shows recorded to get you rocking out before you have a chance to sleep through one class. We will also be giving away more free stuff throughout the new season as well as bringing you more exclusive events and interviews. Here at RFTB we have been working on more live interviews and new playlists, Pompeo has already confirmed at least one interview and we are working to confirm more. Rest assured this season of RFTB will be brutal and rock harder then ever before...Oh yea we also updated the Ozzfest 04 section and added some new links to the Bands/Links section...stay tuned...

While the exact details and reasons for this decision are not being released at this time, both Jared and Chris have declared that the show will return in the Fall Season beginning in late August. During this time this website will continue to be updated with music news, ozzfest details, pics, rftb news, and more as we are dedicated to focusing on the main reason for RFTB, the music. Rest assured we are hard at work with preliminary plans for the next Nocturne which will be for a charity organization that we will name soon. The second Nocturne, held on March 19th-March 20th 2004 in La Salle's Union and WEXP Studios was insane. We definatly want to take this chance to again thank our awesome fans and listeners who helped make this event one of WEXP's top events ever. Thanks to all the random people who stopped by the station to hang out as well as check out the live bands. Inane, Derringer, Apophenia, A Routine Tragedy, and The Premier all rocked and kept the live music going into the early AM hours of Saturday. The energy throughout the night was amazing thanks to everyone who came by the station and who called in. Rest assured we will soon begin preliminary planning for the third Nocturne next fall very shortly! Pictures from this Nocturne are now posted in the Pictures section as well as some updated pics in the Random Acts of Photography section, so be sure to check those out. On a 'serious' note there is currently a situation involving a complaint regarding a guest's actions during a portion of the Nocturne broadcast. Here at RFTB we are currently working with WEXP management as well as the University to ensure this issue gets resolved properly. We believe that the best way to resolve any conflicts is to confront them with an honest, level-headed approach whenever possible, and are confident this situation will not interfere in bringing you the fan and listener the great music and show you expect from us each week. Stay tuned for an official statement as this situation progresses. We're not finished yet though, this next announcement is for all you RFTB Army members. We have officially launched a seperate, exclusive Member's site for all you who have joined. It features custom RFTB backgrounds, promotional tools such as flyers and web banners, and tons more coming soon. Check your emails for the link and if you havent joined, JOIN NOW and help spread RFTB worldwide. Feel free to post comments and feedback on the Nocturne on our guestbook, or just say hey. Thats it for now.....rock on.

[01/20/04]

New year, new update or something along those lines. Red Fades to Black is BACK ON THE AIR after a winter break at the school and station. We have been hard at work planning the next Nocturne, more interviews, more contests, and of course making our playlists darker, harder, and heavier then all that commercial radio junk. The site has some major changes as well, over break we added an Interview and Guests section where you can find out who we have interviewed and who has performed on our past shows. Working on an 'Upcoming Guests' secion as well, so check that out. In addition the Links section has been changed to Bands/Links section. There we have links to basically all of the bands that we play on the show from the locals to the major label artists...they are all there. Also some random links have been added there as well with everything from games, music, art, clothing, any sites we think rock. And for an update on Bret from Saving Astoria go to our guestbook where the band has posted an update on his condition; and sign it while your there. Thats about it, tune in Friday 6pm est...tune in and turn it up...its not just about the music anymore...later all.

[12/29/03]

So go check them out in the Pictures section. In the works is a section which will list all previous and future guests on our show and a RFTB street/e-team is currently in the works. [12/03/03]

Well Red Fades to Black first ever 12 hour Nocturne went very well, thank you to all the callers, listeners, in studio visitors and Apophenia for their live performance. We hope Inane and The Premier can make it in the studio for the next edition. Pictures from it should be up in the next few weeks. So theres a lot of things going on and news to talk about beginning with the show this Friday December 5th...which is the last show of the Fall season (semester). As you already know comedian Dane Cook will be calling in live, you can still submit your questions to him via the link above. Also there is a strong possibility of the band Mindless Self Indulgence calling in for this show live as well for an interview. We will also have Mike Finnegan who runs the online Black Wings Cafe will also be on the show, where btw you can check out a write up by one of the RFTB DJs. Will also be debuting some new music from Dez Fafara of Coal Chamber's new band. Defintantly not a show to miss, it will be the last live one until mid-January. Also WEXP is holding an online vote for the 2003 Song of the Year, you can check details out Here and help make RFTB's pick Marilyn Manson's 'mOBSCENE' the song of the year!

As you already know a brutal beating left the bassist from Saving Astoria, Bret Wilson, severely injured and while his condition is about the same, there is some good news regarding the sick individuals who took a fight situation way too far. 3 teens from Haddon Twp HS were charged and arrested a little over a week ago as well as two 18 yr olds who are on bail. While this news can not turn time back, it is good to know that these people are off the streets and will get what they deserve. Many articles from South Jersey's paper the Courier Post have followed this story closely, you can click HERE for a November 22nd story in which Red Fades to Black was interviewed, and also the latest condition of Bret and his attackers can be found in today's Courier Post HERE. While we do not yet have set contact information where cards, letters, and such can be sent we encourage everyone to submit their thoughts and prayers to SavingAstoria.com's Guestbook.

Well this update has been a long one and for good reason. Remember last live show of semester is Friday December 5th 6pm est after that we will be back on air LIVE January 16th 2004 6pm. After all there is much needed sleep to catch up on. You can still check out the best RFTB shows of this season over break in reruns at the regular time. We got some awesome things planned for next season including potentially huge ticket giveaways, more guest interviews and live performances, a new edition of Nocturne and more. Also the site will be getting some revamping, be sure to check back in the next few weeks for a whole new photo section and tons of new photos. Also two completely new sections to the site will be added so check back, have a wicked good break and holidays...be safe, have fun, and rock on.

[11/03/03]

Sometimes there are things that take place which leave people at a loss for words and just this type of thing occured this past weekend. Bret, a friend of Red Fades to Black and the bassist/back-up vocalist of Saving Astoria was brutally outnumbered and attacked in Collingswood, NJ by a large group of cowardly teens, some came with hammers and bats. Needless to say these cowards` actions have landed Bret in the hospital in a coma and unresponsive. Police have little leads on who is actually responsible for the attack with the hammer and such, names are slowly popping up, people are slowly coming foward. It shocks and disgusts all of us here that people would be so low and cowardly as to outnumber and attack someone with such viciousness and intent to hurt. Whatever the argument or original fight that may have caused this person Tom to bring so many teens looking for a fight is not the point, it could have been handled in a better way. We hope those responsible get what they deserve and urge any of you with any names or information regarding this attack which took place to contact the Collingswood Police or the Haddon Township Police. Whatever the fight was over it is not worth letting these teens get away nor is it worth someone's life. We here at RFTB and WEXP will be keeping Bret, his friends, and family in our thoughts and prayers. For more details please read the official news report.

Just a quick word about an upcoming radio event this week before I close...WEXP's 24 hour Marathon will begin this Friday November 7th at 12noon and run until Saturday November 8th at 12noon. Our show will be at its regular 6-8pm timeslot on Friday. Throughout the marathon listeners will be eligable to win an MP3 player, DVDS and more so tune in...

[10/30/03]

We will be featuring lots of awesome dark music to set the mood as well as dropping some more news, a concert review, and giving away some free stuff. Also coming up soon is WEXP's 2nd Annual 24 hour Marathon which RFTB will be a part of. The insanity of at least 3 WEXP DJ's stayin awake on air for 24 hours begins on Friday November 7th at 12 noon and ends Saturday November 8th at 12 noon. Red Fades to Black will be at its regular time and we will be popping in and out of the studio throughout the marathon. Be sure to listen in throughout the marathon for a chance to win an MP3 player, DVDs and more!! You can check out more details at WEXP Online. Another thing to check out is WEXP's own The Petony Connection(friends of ours) at their new website, click the LINKS section to check it out. Finally be sure to check back here sometime next week for details on how YOU can submit a question for Dane Cook who will be appearing on the November 21st show!!! So if your a Dane Cook fan and have some burning question for him get those gears cranking and pick his brain! Hope you all have a wickedly grotesque and horrifying Halloween...

[10/16/03]

Well the site still has a long way to go...but we are officially on the air. First off welcome to Red Fades to Black Radio Online. We are a radio show that broadcasts from La Salle University in Philadelphia and air Fridays 6-8pm, clicking the listen live link will connect you. We, Jared and Chris, are very excited about the unlimited possibilities this show has. We have only aired two shows , both of these two shows are the station's top 10, September 5th's show was number 3. You can check all the station stats Here. Our show is still too new to determine long term ratings, however the response so far has been incredible. Red Fades to Black Radio prides itself on bringing a unique blend of music from heavy hitting world famous bands to local and unsigned bands. Marilyn Manson, Coal Chamber, Poison the Well, Powerman 5000, Green Day, NIN, Orgy, Killswitch Engage, and Black Sabbath are just a few of the more well known bands we play. Luckystar, Inane, and Kochlear are the first of countless local bands we promote, And of course we play countless bands that are well know yet just below the radar of the masses of music fans. Red Fades to Black also seeks to push the limits and restrictions of radio and attempts to push the envelope whenever possible. You can check out more about the show ,well in the links to the left whenever they are finished. We hope to have the Guestbook and Requests page up soon....this will be for music requests for the next airing of the show, as well a place for local bands looking to get their music played. Band in studio interviews are also encouraged. Well thats enough rambling for me, the Bios and Guestbook should be up within the week. Be sure to tune in every Friday 6-8pm.
